I watched this and was able to fix my Dyson. Replacement metal trigger, much better. I also gave the Dyson a really good clean. The amount of fine dust within the unit was amazing. I used a conventional vacuum and tube to clean out all those hard to reach areas and a paint brush.

Just finding this out after having mine for nine years.

Great video, thanks. Are the power and brush switches the same part number? I replaced the power switch and tested that both worked before reassembling. After reassembling, the brush would not power on. I took it apart to check connections, etc. but the brush switch still doesn’t work. I’m guessing that switch needs to be replaced.

Exhaust filter! I replaced both hoses but this one was the tricky one. It would have been impossible to fix without your tutorial. My Dyson has been out of commission far longer than it should have been. I only wish I had seen this video sooner. Thanks!

I've picked up 2 or 3 vacuums from the road and cleaned them and rehomed them. The only thing wrong with them was BROKEN BELTS!! I picked up this carpet cleaner and there's nothing wrong with it. They threw it away because it was DIRTY!! What's wrong with people? Trouble is, even when I take pictures, I sometimes miss one and I had to come here to find out how to put it back together.

I have this problem now with my shark. I checked volts and they were good and then I bypassed the switch and it still shuts off. Any ideas what else I could try or could it be the motor is bad?

Thank you this is really helpful. I followed along taking everything apart. The metal mess is the hardest part. I just cleaned it out with an air compressor, I didn’t undo the electrical to wash everything. Lesson learned don’t vacuum up ash even if it’s cold. Thanks for the video.

Took me a couple of hours, very fiddly but thanks to Richard's very helpful video I managed to fix it. Thanks Richard. Dyson said they could only sell me a new body with motor £119. Let's hope they have improved the design of the trigger.
